The talented & creative students of JD Institute of Fashion Technology have created garments inspired from Rogan Art, Tetrachromacy and Space & orbit. Concept – Rogan Art
The rare craft, Rogan art, is practised by a lone Muslim family in India, the Khatris, called the sleepy hamlet of Nirona in Gujarat’s Kutch. The purpose of the design range is to create awareness about its existence so that the craft can be steadfastly kept from vanishing into the folds of history. Before designing the garments, the students visited Nirona village where they learned & practiced the craft.
The main aim is to:
- Promote an extinct craft ;
- Make people aware about the age old craft
- Help the Rogan artisans by giving them a platform, or introducing them to the industry. Concept – Beautiful Errors (Tetrachromacy)
Beautiful Errors depicts that there is beauty in imperfection and how errors can be accepted and the limited acceptance of beauty can be improved. Hence, conveying a social message & helping break some stereotypes. The concept revolves around “Tetrachromacy” and shows how beautiful it would be to see a wider spectrum of colours and thus incorporating these diverse colours in the collection. Design elements used in the collection will be DNA structures & how these structures look at the microscopic level.
Concept- Cosmic Thread
Public access to space kick-starting, notion of dressing for space that was often science fiction is going to become a reality. Technological advancement will impact Space travel of the future. The theme Orbital Vacation demonstrates a switch in the field of travel. Therefore, the collection has a futuristic approach, fusing technology with functionality and performance to bring out the most in aesthetic opulence.
